WHAT IS CBC UNDERCLASS?
During the summer of 2023, CBC Coach Darren Lester (who is also a Creekside High School Baseball Coach) and CBC Coach Josh Barrs, took a group of rising freshmen to Omaha, Nebraska for the Slumpbuster tournament which takes place during the College World Series. This team was Creeks Baseball Club’s inaugural Underclass team, a program CBC knew filled a need for Northeast Florida players who understand the value of continuing tournament play without overshooting and overpaying for unnecessary showcase programs at this age. Aside from countless memories made on the trip during the flights across country, team dinners, downtime, sightseeing, and everything that comes along with a week long tournament, the CBC Underclass team landed in the FINALS of the Slumpbuster 2023 Tournament and finished runners up after fighting hard to the very end. Another highlight, of course, included watching the University of Florida Gators in the CWS.
WHY CBC UNDERCLASS?
Creeks Baseball Club is a unique organization offering what many other organizations simply can’t. Consistent field space for our 13U, 14U and 15U teams at Rivertown, 3 Cooperstown invitations, a wealth of baseball experience from the organization’s impressive roster of coaches who have experience playing at the collegiate level, many coaching at the high school level, and now an opportunity to play in Omaha and enjoy the CWS. Given the program’s immeasurable success, we are excited to move forward with CBC UNDERCLASS ’24.The CBC UNDERCLASS Program is for high caliber, highly motivated players seeking to continue their development mentally and physically in preparation for pursuing their dreams of playing at the highest level possible. The program will incorporate conditioning, fundamentals, practices, and exposing the players to the showcase type experience/tournaments. The program is one continuous season lasting from September through July. The tournament schedule will consist of 6-10 tournaments over the entire season with no more than three in the fall and no more than seven in the spring/summer and will not interfere with the High School schedules.
Our objective of the CBC Underclass program is to provide a unique and memorable opportunity while continuing the development and growth of fundamentals and knowledge of the game of baseball both physically and mentally. The program is designed for 14U and 15U players with the desire to compete at a high level, while learning from current and former HS coaches in the St. John’s County school district some of which include Coach Darren Lester and Coach Tony Mazzeo.
*The 14U tournament schedule will be highlighted by playing in the Omaha Slumpbuster during the CWS.
*The 15U tournament schedule will be highlighted by select showcase tournaments.
